Sell something on eBay

Well day two of the ALLCALMA experiment and here i am at 6.30 in the morning dispensing worldly advice.

If yesterdays advice was too much for you and you feel that you can't possibly have anything in your house that you would rather give away than put in the bin then take a good look around your house / office and think of this. Is there anything here which I no longer use / like but would not be prepared to just give away. Is this "thing" enhancing your life or would it be better out of it? Now when you come up with something (which you almost certainly will unless you're a minimalist or a hermit) you need to realise this.

All those old proverbs like "One man's meat is another man's poison" "You can please all of the people some of the time" etc are there for a reason.

Years ago I was at the first car boot sale I'd ever been to selling excess clothing sample items (I used to be a rep in the fashion business), when I got talking to another guy who was there doing a similar thing. He had already been doing it for a few weeks so I took his advice as the seasoned pro he was. "Always bring a table full of crap from your loft or garage" he told me. "It helps attract punters to your stall"

As I stood there considering this a chap walked by with a completely bald tyre under his arm. I tried to reason in my mind what on earth he intended to do with it and more so, why someone had brought it along to sell in the first place. (I'd very quickly eliminated the chance that he might be some sort of rubber fetishist who did this as some kind of security blanket type thing).

The truth was of course that whilst one guy had no need for it he did realise that this bald tyre had a value for somebody else who did need it and was roaming the earth (or at least the Castle Combe racetrack bit of it) looking for just this kind of item.

This of course was in the 80s and technology has moved on considerably since then. These days we don't need to get up at the crack of dawn and tramp around muddy fields looking for secondhand bargains. Neither do we have to get up before we go to bed in order to set up sagging pasting tables full of the contents of the loft in order to make a few bob extra.

We are lucky enough to be blessed with eBay. We can get involved in the worlds biggest car boot sale from the comfort of our own home. (By the way that is the correct way to spell it.) If you haven't yet done so, it's easy to set up an eBay account. It's a little laborious to set up a sales account and paypal processing but once you've done that you're ready to go.

Today make it your mission to put something up for sale on eBay. I'm going to sell off my old ink cartridges. It's recycling and makes me money so how good do I feel? Feel free to post me a comment to let me know how you get on. If I can make it work you should find a link to eBay on the left of my blog. Alternatively you can find it at www.ebay.co.uk or for any Americans who haven't yet heard about it www.ebay.com There are aslo local ebays in many countries around the world now so if you're unsure take a look at the .com site and navigate your way from there.

Good luck and good selling.

All the best for Tuesday

ALLCALMA

Its all about action! We’re all of us great at talking the talk but how many of us actually get out there and walk the walk or buy the whisky? I hope this site proves to be an inspiration to me as much as others to actually get off our backsides and do something positive each day. You don’t need to do something big to change your life or the lives of those around you but you do need to do something at the least!

So many of us have managed to get out of the habit of doing things for ourselves and it’s a truth for most of us that we rely on others to do things for us to such an extent that many of us are no longer capable of making our own decisions.

Well ALLCALMA is here to change all that.

Today, maybe just after you finish reading this piece, take a look at yourself and decide that you are going to make a change. It could be any part of your life. Only you know!

Every day I’m going to post some ideas on this blog. It’s up to you to decide what you want to do with them if anything. You may not like my ideas. You may have some of your own. Either way I’d be happy to hear from you.

Today’s idea is to join Freecycle.org. Freecycle is an amazing idea, essentially it’s an email list where people give away things that they no longer need for free!! It will help you clear your clutter whilst avoiding greater strain on landfill sites and making lots of other people happy! Positive, Positive, Positive. Everybody wins.

There’s loads more info on
www.freecycle.org so make that your next stop right now.

You can look forward to some more great ideas tomorrow. In the meantime as I said previously if you want to get in touch with me please do so.

All the best

Happy Monday

Mikey
